Lotte Mart Launches Two New Alcoholic Beverages for Home Drinkers
Launch of "Sorandi," a Blend of XO Brandy and Korean Soju
Large-Capacity Value Whisky "Grandwhale" to Debut on the 3rd
On July 1, Lotte Mart announced the launch of "Sorandi" (640ml), a value-for-money blended cocktail soju designed for home drinkers.
Sorandi is an alcoholic beverage blended from French brandy aged for over six years and Korean soju. It features a distinctive oak aroma and a smooth finish. With an alcohol content of 15%, it is lighter than typical whiskies, which have an alcohol content of 40% or higher, making it easier to enjoy casually. Instead of a glass bottle, Sorandi uses a PET container optimized for home drinking, home parties, and outdoor activities, adding practicality.
Lotte Mart, in partnership with Chungbuk Soju, conducted a blind test over approximately four months with a panel of about 100 evaluators. The brandy blend ratio in Sorandi was set at 7.2% to achieve the optimal flavor. Through Sorandi, the company plans to actively target the demand from home drinkers seeking affordable and easy-to-enjoy alcoholic beverages.
In addition, on July 3, Lotte Mart will launch "Grandwhale" (1.75L), a large-capacity value-for-money whisky. With a capacity of 1.75L?2.5 times larger than the standard whisky bottle size of 700ml?the unit price has been reduced.
The name Grandwhale is inspired by the Korean term "Sulgorae," meaning heavy drinker or "alcohol whale." Reflecting the image of a giant whale, the product is offered in a large size. Made with 100% Scotch whisky, Grandwhale delivers fruity notes and a subtle smoky flavor, and can be enjoyed in various ways, including highball, on the rocks (pouring whisky over ice), or neat (drinking whisky straight). It will be available at Lotte Mart, Lotte Super, Lotte Mart Max, and Bottle Bunker stores nationwide.

Kim Jonghyun, MD of Lotte Mart's liquor team, said, "Recently, there has been a growing demand in the alcoholic beverage market for low-alcohol drinks that can be enjoyed casually, as well as value-for-money products with reduced price burdens. Sorandi and Grandwhale are products that reflect the trends of low-alcohol and value-for-money beverages, and we believe they will satisfy the preferences of consumers who enjoy drinking at home."
