Criminal Division 21 is dedicated to election and corruption cases and is currently hearing the bribery cases involving former President Moon Jaein and former lawmaker Lee Sangjik.
The special prosecutor indicted former Commander Noh again on June 27. He is accused of receiving personal information of Intelligence Command agents and other military information from former Army Intelligence Commander Moon Sangho and others, with the intention of selecting personnel for the "Second Investigation Team" to investigate alleged election fraud as a civilian.
When indicting former Commander Noh additionally, the special prosecutor also requested an extension of his detention. The team believes that if he is released unconditionally after the expiration of his six-month pretrial detention on July 9, he may attempt to destroy evidence, such as coordinating testimonies with accomplices.
The special prosecutor also requested the consolidation of arguments with the Criminal Division 25 (Presiding Judge Ji Gwiyoun) of the Central District Court, which is currently handling the case regarding former Commander Noh’s alleged involvement in major insurrection duties.
