The ceremony was attended by Koo Bokgyu, Mayor of Hwasun County; Oh Hyungyeol, Chairman of the Hwasun County Council; Kim Seokgi, Director of the Gwangju Regional Veterans Office; as well as key figures and members of local veterans organizations in Hwasun County.
The Eoullim Center, with a total construction cost of 47.2 billion won, has been under development since 2022 and was completed over approximately three years. Of this, the Veterans Hall received 1.7 billion won in total project funding, including a 500 million won government grant from the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.
The Veterans Hall will be used as a multipurpose space for counseling and welfare support for veterans, as well as for educational and cultural activities. After receiving certification for disability-friendly facilities, a total of nine local veterans organizations are scheduled to move into the fourth floor next month.
Kim Seokgi, Director of the Gwangju Regional Veterans Office, stated, "The Hwasun Veterans Hall will be more than just a space; it will become a symbol of the community that honors and remembers those who have devoted themselves to the nation." "We hope it will serve as a hub for veterans organizations, and we will continue to provide support to create a society where veterans and their families are respected," he added.
