View original imagePresident Lee Jaemyung has completed the selection of senior secretaries by appointing individuals to the previously vacant positions of Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs and Senior Secretary for Listening and Integration.
On the 29th, Kang Hoonshik, Chief of Staff to the President, held a briefing at the Presidential Office in Yongsan and announced that Bong Wook has been appointed as Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs and Jeon Sunghwan as Senior Secretary for Listening and Integration.
Bong Wook, an attorney at Kim & Chang, has been selected for the position of Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs. Bong previously served as Director-General for Human Rights at the Ministry of Justice and as Deputy Prosecutor General at the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office. Following the resignation of former Senior Secretary Oh Gwangsu, who was also a former prosecutor, another figure with a prosecutorial background has been chosen for the role.
Chief of Staff Kang stated, "The new Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs is known for his humility and gentle character, and he enjoys deep trust both inside and outside the prosecution. He is also recognized for his outstanding policy planning abilities," adding, "We expect him to demonstrate strong leadership on key issues such as prosecution reform."

Regarding the new Senior Secretary for Listening and Integration, Jeon Sunghwan, Chief of Staff Kang explained, "He has played various roles, including as a civic activist, head of public institutions, and local government official, and has been dedicated to reflecting the voices of the marginalized and less-heard in our society in policy."
