Tway Air Acquired by Daemyung Sono Appoints Sangyun Lee as New CEO
Aviation Expert with Over 20 Years of Hands-On Experience
On June 27, Tway Air announced that its board of directors has appointed Sangyun Lee, who had been serving as acting CEO, as the new CEO. The company expects to create synergies by combining Tway Air with Daemyung Sono Group's leisure infrastructure, such as hotels and resorts.
Born in 1974, Lee majored in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Southern California and joined Korean Air in 2003. He is recognized as an aviation expert with over 20 years of extensive hands-on experience across the aviation industry.
During his tenure at Korean Air, he held key roles both on-site and in management, including responsibilities for airframe maintenance at the Operations Inspection and Maintenance Plant, securing MRO business contracts in the Maintenance Planning Department, HR management in the Talent Development Office, head of the Management Team at the Americas Regional Headquarters, and head of the Policy Planning Team in the Policy Support Office.
In particular, based on his experience in HR management at the Talent Development Office, he is expected to play a pivotal role as a control tower for the evolving organization by ensuring stable workforce management aligned with the company’s vision and strategic goals. In the field of aviation safety, his experience overseeing airframe maintenance and engine MRO business at a major airline positions him as the right person to enhance Tway Air’s aviation safety and maintenance operational efficiency.
