The ceremony featured commendations for contributors, commemorative speeches, and congratulatory addresses. Afterwards, participants toured the facility with local residents, taking time to explore the cultural shelter firsthand.
The 'Guryongpo Haepalang Culture Shelter' is part of the 'Guryongpo Area General Rural and Fishing Village Development Project,' which was launched as a public contest project in 2020.
The facility was completed in December last year with a total project cost of 5.2 billion won (3.6 billion won from the national government and 1.6 billion won from the city budget), and features two above-ground floors with a total floor area of 976.51 square meters.
The first floor houses a multipurpose gymnasium and a sea-view library. The library is stocked with over 6,000 books, including a dedicated children's reading area.
The gymnasium is equipped for various indoor sports such as table tennis, badminton, and volleyball, and is expected to serve as a venue for promoting the health and social interaction of local residents.
The second floor includes a reading room and a conference room, which are furnished with reading lights and a beam projector, making them versatile spaces suitable for small meetings and various gatherings.
Additionally, a garden has been created where visitors can enjoy the scenic beauty of Guryongpo, making it a space for relaxation and communication not only for local residents but also for tourists.
The Haepalang Culture Shelter, a multipurpose community space encompassing both cultural and welfare functions, has been operating on a trial basis since March. It is open on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., allowing all citizens, including office workers, to use the facility freely.
