Comprehensive Assessment of Professionalism and Performance
For the first time in Jeollanam-do, a woman has been appointed as Chief Secretary.
On June 27, Jeollanam-do announced a regular personnel reshuffle effective July 1, in line with the launch of the new government. The reshuffle aims to incorporate the province's core projects into national policy tasks, to actively promote the "Ok, Now Is the Jeonnam Era" initiative, and to secure momentum for the latter half of the 8th popularly elected administration.
This personnel reshuffle was carried out in response to merit-based retirement and honorary retirement, as well as promotions from Grade 2 to Grade 4, and the transfer or appointment of deputy heads of organizations. As a result, a total of 62 officials will either be transferred or assume new positions, including 2 officials promoted or transferred to Grade 2, 17 at the director level, and 43 at the deputy director and section chief levels.
In the case of promotions, a total of 20 officials were included, such as Naju Deputy Mayor Ahn Sanghyun, who was promoted to Grade 2 Director General. Jeollanam-do explained that the selections comprehensively considered job competency factors such as professionalism, continuity in duties, and performance in task execution, as well as contributions to provincial administration.
The province added that transfers were minimized to ensure organizational stability and to strengthen professional capabilities.
In addition, for the appointment of deputy heads of organizations, the province prioritized communication and cooperation between the provincial government and cities and counties, assigning individuals who understand the region and the field, and who possess strong policy implementation and organizational management abilities.
Notably, for the first time in Jeollanam-do, Park Heekyung (53), Director of Population Policy, was appointed as Chief Secretary. It is reported that her policy expertise and communication skills were highly valued in the selection process.
Meanwhile, Jeollanam-do plans to complete the regular personnel reshuffle for the second half of 2025 by conducting appointments for team leaders at Grade 5 and below by July 25.
