Sejong City to Develop Distinctive Apartment Complexes Where People, Nature, and Technology Coexist
Design Standards for Hangul Gardens, Lighting, and Companion Animals Announced
Amendments Announced and Enforced on June 27
The 'Sejong City Apartment Design Standards' incorporate the region's unique characteristics, where people, nature, and technology coexist, to create a safe and sophisticated future city.
According to Sejong City on June 27, the main point of the revised standards is to establish differentiated residential environments compared to other cities, secure residential complexes tailored to demand with distinctive features for each complex, and introduce design standards that enhance the quality of life for residents.
Under the revised standards, from the date of announcement, housing construction projects with 100 or more units that apply for integrated review are required to comply with mandatory and optional specialized guidelines in areas such as Hangul gardens, lighting, and companion animals. As a result, local housing complexes are expected to offer a variety of themed gardens, dedicated spaces for companion animals, and optional units equipped with garden- and pet-friendly features.
Various facility improvements will also be made to create safe and convenient residential spaces. The revised standards limit the height difference between sidewalks and roads along major pedestrian routes to 2 cm or less, and require the installation of facilities to block motorcycle access and protective fences at underground parking lot ramps. The standards also mandate the installation of automatic closing devices for stairwell fire doors in the event of a fire, the securing of space for firefighters' activities within fire truck parking zones, and the installation of visual alarms at fire hydrants on each floor.
The revised design standards are announced and take effect on June 27, and detailed information can be found on the city's official website notice board.
Lee Doohee, Director of the Urban Housing Bureau, stated, "With these revisions, we will create Sejong-style apartment complexes where people, nature, and technology coexist," adding, "We expect residents' satisfaction with their housing to improve significantly, and the value of Sejong as a safe and sophisticated future city to rise even further."
