Korea National University of Cultural Heritage Donates Digital Scanning Equipment to Egypt
Worth 700 Million Won...
Training Provided for Local Staff
Korea National University of Cultural Heritage announced on June 26 that it had donated equipment worth $520,000 (approximately 700 million won), including digital scanning devices and artifact workbenches, to the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) in Egypt.
This is part of an official development assistance (ODA) project promoted by the National Heritage Administration. Since 2023, together with the university, the project has supported the establishment of a Digital Heritage Center in Egypt and the recording and preservation of digital data.
The donated equipment is expected to help digitize materials such as glass plate negatives, photographs, and drawings held by local museums and major institutions. It is also expected to contribute to the preservation and utilization of artifacts, including stone busts and gold masks.
