Gmarket Releases User Manual for Visually Impaired Customers to Support Shopping Convenience
Screen Reader-Specific 'Gmarket User Manual' Now Available
Reflecting Actual User Feedback... Enhanced Practicality and Accessibility
Mobile Version to Be Released in the Future
Gmarket has released a screen reader-specific 'Gmarket User Manual' to enhance shopping convenience for visually impaired customers.
According to Gmarket on June 26, the manual is expected to serve as a guide to help visually impaired users easily navigate the Gmarket PC website. It explains the entire shopping process?including product searches, adding items to the cart, checking promotions, and making payments?based on the actual environment of screen reader usage.
The manual significantly improves practicality and accessibility by reflecting feedback from actual visually impaired users. Instead of focusing on mouse clicks or scrolling, it provides instructions centered on shortcuts and various keyboard controls essential for screen reader users. The manual is structured so that visually impaired users can follow and learn each function step by step.
The manual is primarily based on the latest version of the 'Sense Reader' screen reader, which is widely used in Korea, but it can also be used with the NVDA screen reader. If users experience any inconvenience while using the manual, they can directly submit inquiries through the 'Accessibility Report Center,' which serves as a communication channel.
