Marine Corps Conducts Live-Fire Maritime Drill in West Sea, Fires Over 200 Rounds Including K-9s
The Republic of Korea Marine Corps conducted a live-fire maritime exercise near the Northern Limit Line (NLL) on June 25.
The Northwest Islands Defense Command announced that the 6th Brigade and the Yeonpyeong Unit conducted the maritime live-fire training on the same day. The exercise involved approximately 200 rounds fired using unit-assigned weaponry, including K-9 self-propelled howitzers.
The Marine Corps explained that this exercise is a routine, regularly scheduled drill conducted on a quarterly basis. Previously, after the launch of the People’s Sovereignty Government, there was speculation that live-fire drills in border areas might be suspended following the halt of loudspeaker broadcasts toward North Korea on June 11. However, the training proceeded as planned.

The Northwest Islands Defense Command stated, "We will continue to do our utmost to defend territorial sovereignty and to maintain the operational readiness of our troops stationed on the northwest islands."
