Gwangju Bukgu Seeks Exemplary Neighbors
Applications Accepted Until July 18
Gwangju Bukgu District Office announced on the 25th that it will be accepting public nominations for candidates for the 'Bukgu Citizen Award' until July 18, in order to discover and encourage exemplary residents who have contributed to the development of the local community.
Established in 2008 and now in its 18th year, the Bukgu Citizen Award recognizes one individual in each of five categories: local economy, community service, culture-arts-sports, filial piety, and outstanding persons with disabilities. A total of five recipients will be selected and awarded during the Bukgu Residents' Day celebration in September.
Nominees must be residents who have lived in Bukgu for at least three years as of the announcement date and have made significant contributions in their respective fields. For the local economy and culture-arts-sports categories, individuals who have been active in Bukgu for at least three years may also be nominated, regardless of their place of residence.
Nominations can be made either by a group of at least 30 local residents or by the heads of various institutions and organizations. The nomination form can be downloaded from the district office website and submitted to the Administrative Support Division. Bukgu District Office will determine the awardees through on-site investigations, public verification, and review by the selection committee.
