The "Robot Flagship" project aims to promote the spread of specialized robot technologies linked to regional key industries, with a core focus on establishing demonstration-oriented robot hubs centered on user experience (UX).
Through this project, Gumi City will build a robot automation system connected to the semiconductor specialized complex and the regional logistics industry.
The main hubs will be established at the Wearable Commercialization Support Center within Geumyo Technovalley and the joint logistics center in the Gumi National Industrial Complex. These hubs will feature converged complex infrastructure, including indoor and outdoor logistics and transport robot demonstration environments, hazardous materials monitoring and management, robot operation data collection and simulation, as well as experience and exhibition spaces.
Kim Jangho, Mayor of Gumi City, stated, "This project is an opportunity to enhance the growth potential of the robotics industry in connection with the Gumi semiconductor specialized complex. We will pursue not only technological advancement for local robotics companies but also the potential for convergence and expansion with various industries such as defense, secondary batteries, and new airport logistics."
In addition to this project, Gumi City has been making strategic investments to foster the robotics industry ecosystem, including: ▲ Establishment of a smart transport and logistics autonomous driving robot platform (2023-2025, 12.3 billion won), ▲ Distribution of AI service robots (2023-2027, 1 billion won), and ▲ Establishment of a global robot production hub (2024-2026, 1.5 billion won).
