View original imageThe Chungnam Provincial Council announced that on the morning of the 24th, it held the 4th plenary session of the 359th regular session at the council's main chamber, where it deliberated and processed 64 various agenda items, thereby concluding its legislative activities.
During this regular session, a total of 17 council members delivered five-minute speeches at the 1st and 4th plenary sessions, and another 17 members participated in the 2nd and 3rd plenary sessions to raise questions on provincial and educational administration. Through these questions, they pointed out the realities of key issues facing Chungnam and strongly urged for thorough countermeasures.
The council also rigorously reviewed Chungnam Province's 2024 fiscal year settlement data to ensure that the budget was executed as planned and to check for any instances of waste. It verified compliance with the legal requirements for carrying over designated projects and provided corrective recommendations on the settlement data, thereby suggesting the proper direction for fiscal management.
At the 4th plenary session held on this day, the council deliberated and passed 45 ordinance bills, including the "Ordinance on the Disclosure of Budget Savings and Waste Cases of Chungcheongnam-do Office of Education," and adopted a resolution opposing the relocation of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to Busan.
In addition, members of the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts and the Special Ethics Committee were appointed, and through an election, council member Ahn Jangheon (Asan 5, Democratic Party of Korea) was elected as the chairperson of the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts.
Hong Seonghyeon, chairperson of the council (Cheonan 1, People Power Party), stated, "This regular session saw active legislative activities, including many members participating in questions on provincial and educational administration and in five-minute speeches," and added, "I expect the two special committees appointed today to carry out substantial legislative work throughout their term."
Meanwhile, at the 360th extraordinary session scheduled to be held from July 15 to 29, the council will receive reports from the executive branch on the progress of major projects and decide on the schedule for the 2025 administrative audit period, among other matters.
