The Joint Quality Inspection Team for Public Buildings is composed of 15 private sector experts (such as professional engineers) specializing in eight practical fields, including architecture, structure, safety, and fire protection, as well as supervisory public officials in charge of the respective projects. The team is scheduled to operate for the next two years.
The team plans to focus on inspecting the construction quality of major process stages (30%, 60%, and 90%) of public buildings commissioned by Jeollanamdo, as well as processes such as windows and waterproofing where defects frequently occur. In the event that defects are discovered after completion, the team will also support prompt repairs by providing cause analysis and consulting on countermeasures.
Cho Byungseop, Director of the Architectural Development Division of Jeollanamdo, stated, "Because public buildings are directly linked to the lives and safety of residents, we will ensure quality throughout all construction processes and minimize defects by operating a quality inspection team with expertise and effectiveness. We will continue to cooperate with private sector experts to create a building environment that residents can trust."
