Premium distilled soju brand Hwayo announced on June 23 that it will launch a new product, 'Hwayo19Geum', for the first time in ten years.
'Hwayo19Geum' is a premium distilled soju made by fermenting and distilling 100% domestically grown rice, then aging the spirit in onggi for an extended period, and finally blending it with oak-aged spirit for a unique flavor profile. Notably, it contains 10.9% oak barrel-aged spirit, delivering the deep and refined aroma and smooth texture found in Hwayo’s top-tier lineup, 'HwayoX.Premium'.
Hwayo19Geum embodies Hwayo’s core philosophy of 'enjoying good liquor in moderation', and aims to introduce proper Korean drinking culture to the global K-food scene. With an alcohol content of 19% and a volume of 375mL, it is designed to be enjoyed casually in everyday life. Its pure, brilliant golden hue visually represents the essence of blended aging, set against a clear and transparent base.
On the nose, the pure and gentle aroma of rice from the onggi-aged spirit envelops the palate, followed by special aromas of vanilla, banana, and coconut from the oak aging, adding multidimensional complexity. A sip reveals a fruity first impression, rich body, and lingering notes of chocolate in harmony, while the smooth finish leaves a lasting, profound oak aftertaste.
The new product will be unveiled for the first time at the '2025 Seoul International Wines & Spirits Expo', held at COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, for three days starting June 26. At the Hwayo booth, visitors can sample Hwayo19Geum and participate in various on-site events. On June 28, the finals of the '2025 Hwayo Cocktail Championship' will also take place.
