Raises Pressure Level on Iran
On June 22 (local time), U.S. President Donald Trump, who ordered an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities, mentioned the possibility of regime change in Iran.
Through his self-created social networking service, Truth Social, President Trump stated, "Using the term 'regime change' may not be politically correct, but if the current Iranian regime cannot make Iran great again, then why shouldn't there be regime change?"
Until now, the Trump administration has emphasized that the purpose of the airstrikes on Iran's nuclear facilities was not regime change, but to prevent the development of Iran's nuclear program. While he did not mention regime change through external means such as U.S. military operations, by using the term itself, it is analyzed that he intended to increase pressure on Iran to abandon its nuclear weapons.
President Trump also announced that the pilots of the B-2 bombers who carried out the airstrikes on Iran's nuclear facilities had just landed safely at an Air Force base in Missouri.
President Trump described the damage to Iran's nuclear facilities as "monumental," and said, "The strike was powerful and precise."
