Special Prosecutor Cho Eunseok Submits Opinion Urging Dismissal and Rejection of Kim Yonghyun's Objection
Submitted to Seoul High Court at Around 12:30 a.m.
Special Prosecutor Cho Eunseok, who is investigating the insurrection case, submitted an opinion to the court requesting the dismissal and rejection of the objection raised by former Defense Minister Kim Yonghyun regarding his additional indictment.
On June 21, Special Prosecutor Cho stated, "At around 12:30 a.m., we submitted our opinion to the Seoul High Court regarding defendant Kim Yonghyun's objection and request for a stay of execution."
After completing the preparation period on June 18, Special Prosecutor Cho initiated the investigation and filed additional charges against former Minister Kim for obstruction of official duties by fraud and for instigating the destruction of evidence. He also requested the cancellation of Kim's bail and the issuance of an additional arrest warrant.
In response, Kim's side argued that this was a 'separate indictment' and, the previous day, filed an objection and a request for a stay of execution with the Seoul High Court.
