'Heavy Rain Advisory': Seoul Restricts Access to 29 Streams
As a heavy rain advisory has been issued across Seoul, access to 29 streams in the city, including Cheonggyecheon, Dorimcheon, Anyangcheon, Seongbukcheon, and Jeongneungcheon, is currently restricted. A heavy rain advisory is issued when rainfall is expected to reach 60mm or more in three hours, or 110mm or more in twelve hours.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government on June 20, the city has restricted passage along these 29 streams and closed four riverside parking lots, including two along Anyangcheon and others along Jungnangcheon and Tancheon. Five rainwater pumping stations, which are disaster prevention facilities, are operating partially.
The city has sent official notices to all departments and agencies instructing them to thoroughly manage safety in disaster-prone areas in preparation for the rainfall.
As of 6:00 a.m., the city activated "Situation Duty Level 1," with 461 Seoul city officials and 3,094 district personnel working at Level 1. As of 5:00 p.m., 26 firefighting activities had been carried out, including eight cases of drainage assistance and 18 safety measures related to street trees, falling objects, and walls.
