The wage and collective bargaining negotiations between labor and management of Gwangju city buses have been concluded through the mediation of Gwangju Mayor Kang Gijung. On the morning of June 20, labor and management held negotiations in the mayor’s reception room at City Hall and reached an agreement. The main points of the agreement include: ▲ a 3% increase in base salary ▲ extension of the retirement age from 61 to 62 ▲ participation of both labor and management in the (tentatively named) Public Transportation Innovation Council to be established by the city of Gwangju ▲ discussions within the Innovation Council on improving workers’ wages and working conditions, rationalizing public transportation fares, and overall structural improvements to the quasi-public operation system.
