This forum featured an in-depth lecture on the rapidly changing situation in the Middle East, covering topics such as: the Middle East and energy; the decline of the U.S.-led world order; Trump and the Middle East; Israel; Iran; the Iran-Israel war; the Iranian economy; and the Middle East and Korea. Before the main lecture, Gwangju Police Commissioner Park Sungju gave an introduction about the present and future of the Gwangju police.
Professor Park is a faculty member at the Sogang University Euromena Institute. He has served as a policy advisory committee member for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a Middle East research specialist at the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, an instructor for public officials on preventing religious discrimination at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the chair of the Judaism and Islam division at the Korean Association for the Study of Religion. He has also appeared on numerous television programs such as TVN's "Naked World History" and authored books including "Islam of the World" and "Going to Islam."
Chairman Yang Jinseok stated, "The escalation of the war between Israel and Iran has caused a sharp rise in international oil and raw material prices, as well as disruptions in maritime transport and production, placing a significant burden on both the global and regional economies. Therefore, prompt negotiations and a ceasefire are necessary." He added, "For member companies exporting to the United States and the Middle East, this forum must have been of great help."
