Jeongeup City Supports GAP Certification Inspection Fees
"Ensuring Safe Agricultural Production
and Increasing Farmers' Incomes"
Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province is providing year-round support for the costs of GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) certification to ensure the production of safe and trustworthy agricultural products, thereby reducing the financial burden on local farmers.
According to the city on June 20, the Good Agricultural Practices certification is a system that ensures safety throughout the entire process from production to distribution and consumption of agricultural products. As demand for safe food has recently increased, GAP certification has become an essential requirement for farmers.
To expand GAP certification, the city is supporting various costs, including safety inspection fees for residual pesticides and heavy metals in soil, water, and agricultural products, as well as certification review fees. Through these efforts, the city is encouraging farmer participation and taking the lead in enhancing the quality and reliability of local agricultural products.
As of June, the city has provided GAP certification support to a total of 326 farms, covering 589 hectares of farmland, and plans to further expand tailored support for various agricultural products in the future.
Applications can be submitted at any time throughout the year, and interested farmers can apply through their local Eup, Myeon, or Dong Administrative Welfare Centers. Since support is provided on a first-come, first-served basis until the budget is exhausted, farmers should apply in a timely manner to ensure they receive practical benefits.
A city official stated, "GAP certification enhances trust for consumers and competitiveness for farmers," adding, "We will continue to provide a variety of administrative support to ensure the production of safe agricultural products and to increase farmers' incomes in the future."
