KOSPI Holds Firm Near 2,980... KOSDAQ Also Fluctuates Within a Narrow Range
On June 20, the domestic stock market fluctuated within a narrow range in early trading.
As of 9:30 a.m. on this day, the KOSPI was trading at 2,976.17, down 1.57 points (0.05%) from the previous day. The index had opened at 2,986.52, up 8.78 points (0.29%) from the previous session. While individual investors made net purchases of 111.5 billion won, foreign investors and institutions sold a net 98.9 billion won and 17.8 billion won, respectively.
The top market capitalization stocks showed a mixed trend. SK hynix (2.85%), Celltrion (1.81%), LG Energy Solution (1.20%), Samsung Biologics (0.60%), KB Financial Group (0.56%), Shinhan Financial Group (0.34%), and Samsung Electronics (0.25%) were on the rise. However, Doosan Enerbility (-3.11%), Samsung C&T (-2.30%), NAVER (-2.18%), Hanwha Aerospace (-1.18%), Hyundai Motor (-0.48%), and Kia (-0.31%) were declining.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ was trading at 781.56, down 0.95 points (0.12%) from the previous day. The index had started at 783.63, up 1.12 points (0.14%). While individual investors purchased 54.8 billion won worth of shares, foreign investors and institutions were net sellers of 44.8 billion won and 2.7 billion won, respectively.
Most of the top market capitalization stocks on the KOSDAQ were trending upward. Rainbow Robotics (5.04%), Silicon Two (4.14%), Samchundang Pharm (3.47%), EcoPro BM (3.41%), PharmaResearch (2.88%), EcoPro (1.45%), and Classys (1.45%) were strong, while Peptron (-1.60%) and HLB (-1.13%) were weak.

By sector, cosmetics stocks surged by 5.40% on expectations of a recovery in the Chinese market. Other sectors on the rise included other retail (2.01%), department stores (1.51%), electrical products (1.26%), pharmaceuticals (1.05%), stationery and household goods (0.95%), and semiconductors (0.94%). In contrast, software (-2.17%), shipbuilding (-1.90%), non-ferrous metals (-1.81%), toys and leisure goods (-1.42%), energy (-1.42%), and machinery (-1.38%) were on the decline.
