First Heat-Related Illness Case Reported in Gwangju... Man in His 60s Hospitalized After Outdoor Work
The first heat-related illness case of the year has occurred in Gwangju.
According to the Gwangju Bukbu Fire Station and other sources on June 19, at around 8:08 p.m. the previous day, a 64-year-old individual, referred to as A, showed symptoms of convulsions in front of a restaurant in Yangsan-dong, Buk-gu, and was transported to a hospital. It was reported that A recovered after receiving medical treatment.
It was confirmed that A developed heat cramps after working outdoors during the day. According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the highest daytime temperature in Gwangju on that day reached 32.4 degrees Celsius.
