Groundbreaking Begins with 100 Billion KRW Investment

On June 19, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam Province announced that LX Pantos New Port Eco Logistics Center held a groundbreaking ceremony for an advanced logistics center in the first phase of the Seocon Hinterland Complex in Jinhae-gu.

More than 100 people attended the event, including Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City; Lee Jonguk, National Assembly member; Kim Myeongju, Vice Governor of Economic Affairs for Gyeongsangnam-do; Park Seongho, Commissioner of the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority; Lee Yongho, CEO of LX Pantos; and Eo Jaehyeok, CEO of LX Pantos New Port Eco Logistics Center.

LX Pantos New Port Eco Logistics Center is a joint venture established through cooperation between LX Pantos Busan New Port Logistics Center and LG Electronics. On April 22, 2024, the company signed an investment agreement with Changwon City, Gyeongsangnam-do, and the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority for an investment amount of 100 billion KRW and the creation of 188 new jobs.

The logistics center will be built as an eco-friendly, advanced facility using environmentally friendly materials and carbon-reducing landscaping, with a total floor area of 71,962 square meters on a site of 125,720 square meters. Completion is scheduled for December 2026.

The city expects that the establishment of this logistics center will help handle the increasing cargo volume at Busan New Port and create a high value-added logistics business model by processing and assembling semi-finished products into finished goods for re-export.

Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, "The new investment in LX Pantos New Port Eco Logistics Center provides an opportunity for Changwon to become a hub for the advanced logistics industry," and added, "Through this project, we will do our utmost to provide administrative support so that both businesses and the local economy can grow together, making Changwon a sustainable city."
