Aiming to Bridge After-School Childcare Gaps for Elementary Students
The city of Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 19th that it held an opening ceremony for the Dahamkke Care Center Jeungposeonggyeong Branch, which was established at Seongyeong 1 and 2 Apartment Complexes in Jeungpo-dong on the 18th.

View original imageThe Dahamkke Care Center is a childcare facility operated to address the gap in after-school care for elementary school students. For this Jeungposeonggyeong Branch, the apartment complex provided the space, and the city installed the center. The center, which will begin operations next month, has a capacity of 20 children.
With the opening of the Jeungposeonggyeong Branch, the number of Dahamkke Care Centers in the Icheon area has increased to 12. The city plans to continue expanding related facilities to eliminate gaps in childcare services.
Kim Kyunghee, mayor of Icheon, stated, "We will establish a robust childcare system so that children can grow up happily and parents can focus on their daily lives with peace of mind."

Meanwhile, Icheon received UNICEF Child-Friendly City certification in December last year and was awarded a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare in recognition of its efforts to create a child-friendly environment, including the establishment of Dahamkke Care Centers and 24-hour childcare centers.
