Dong-Eui Institute of Technology Nursing Department Holds 14th Nightingale Pledge Ceremony... 161 Students Take First Step
The Department of Nursing at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology held its traditional pledge ceremony to mark the professional entry of future nursing talents.
Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President Kim Youngdo) announced on June 19 that it held the 14th Nightingale Pledge Ceremony on May 23 to commemorate the start of clinical practice for third-year students in the Department of Nursing (Head Kim Yoonji).
The Nightingale Pledge Ceremony is a symbolic event where nursing students reaffirm the values of ethics, responsibility, and service before entering clinical practice, marking their first step as professionals.
On this day, more than 500 people attended the event, including 161 pledge-taking students, faculty members from the Department of Nursing, Kim Sungkyung, Vice President of the Busan Nursing Association, Lee Hyangsook, President of the Department of Nursing Alumni Association, hospital officials, parents, and current students. The ceremony featured a candlelight ritual, the reading of the pledge, and celebratory performances, allowing participants to share their resolutions and emotions.
All participating students recited the Nightingale Pledge, promising their dedication to promoting public health. The atmosphere was further warmed by performances prepared by faculty and students together.
Kim Yoonji, Head of the Department, said, "This pledge ceremony is the starting point for students to engrave the core values of the nursing profession in their hearts and to grow into responsible nurses."

Established in 2009, the Department of Nursing at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology has received five-year accreditation for four consecutive cycles from the Korean Accreditation Board of Nursing Education. It has also been selected as an exemplary institution for the Ministry of Health and Welfare's 'Nursing College Clinical Practice Education Support Project,' solidifying its position as a leading institution in regional nursing education.
