The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants announced on the 19th that it held its 71st regular general meeting on the 18th at the Fairmont Ambassador Seoul Grand Ballroom in Yeouido, Seoul, with around 300 members in attendance.

View original imageAt the meeting, Jang Hyungsu, an accountant from Deloitte Anjin LLC, was elected as auditor. The term of office is two years. The agenda also included a resolution on partial amendments to the 'Articles of the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants,' an integrated report on the 2025 fiscal year business plan and budget, as well as the 2024 fiscal year audit and settlement reports.
In his opening address, Chairman Choi Unyeol stated, "The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants will actively cooperate with the new government's economic revitalization policies by strengthening accounting transparency," and added, "As I enter my second year in office, enacting the Basic Accounting Act will be a top priority to ensure consistency and reliability in the accounting system." He also emphasized, "Following the normalization of the accounting audit system for privately commissioned projects, we will accelerate the amendment of the Local Autonomy Act for legal institutionalization." Furthermore, he said, "We will strengthen the role and status of accounting professionals to adapt to rapidly changing environments such as artificial intelligence (AI), capital markets, and ESG (environmental, social, and governance), and strive to earn public trust as experts working together with the people."
