Business Agreement Signed on the 19th
Linked Project "Fishing Village New Deal 300" Worth 289.1 Billion Won
Chungnam Province has officially announced the establishment of the West Sea Branch of the Korea Fisheries Infrastructure and Village Agency, thereby opening the race for the "second phase of public institution relocation," which involves moving public institutions from the Seoul metropolitan area to local regions.
On June 19, Chungnam Province announced that it had signed a "business agreement for the establishment of the West Sea Branch" with the Korea Fisheries Infrastructure and Village Agency and Hongseong County at the provincial government situation room.
The Korea Fisheries Infrastructure and Village Agency is a core public institution in the fisheries and fishing village sector, responsible for managing national fishing ports and strengthening the capabilities of those working in the fisheries industry. The new West Sea Branch, to be established in Naepo New Town, will consist of the West Sea Regeneration Project Office, the Chungnam Fisheries Village Specialization Center, and the West Sea Fisheries Project Office, with 36 staff members expected to be stationed there.
There are five joint projects between the Korea Fisheries Infrastructure and Village Agency and Chungnam Province, including the Fishing Village New Deal 300, with a total scale of 289.1 billion won over six years.
The province had previously aimed to attract the agency's headquarters, but after revising its strategy in February, it first pursued the establishment of the West Sea Branch, which led to the successful signing of this agreement.
Governor Kim Tae-heum emphasized, "Attracting a field-oriented branch to Chungnam, a hub of the fisheries industry, is highly significant," adding, "With the establishment of this branch, we will strongly push for the relocation of the headquarters and the second phase of public institution relocation from the Seoul metropolitan area."
The Korea Fisheries Infrastructure and Village Agency, which consists of a headquarters in Seoul, four regional headquarters, and two project teams, currently employs a total of 246 people. This year's budget amounts to 602.5 billion won.
