Anonymous Benefactor Donates 5 Million Won for Second Year in Nonsan... Seonui Scholarship Awarded
The Nonsan-Gyeryong Office of Education in South Chungcheong Province announced on June 19 that it held a ceremony on June 18 to present the "2025 Seonui Scholarship," after receiving a donation of 5 million won from an "anonymous benefactor."
This scholarship has been donated for two consecutive years since last year. The donor expressed the hope that it would help students with upright and kind character, which is why the scholarship was named "Seonui." "Seonui" means "goodness" (善) and "righteousness" (義).
This year, a total of 10 students were selected as scholarship recipients: 4 elementary school students, 3 middle school students, and 3 high school students from the Nonsan-Gyeryong area.
Park Yanghun, the superintendent of education, encouraged the students by saying, "I hope you will remember that, even in difficult circumstances, you have the support of your families, teachers, and an anonymous donor, and that you will not lose your courage. As recipients of the Seonui Scholarship, I hope you will take pride and grow up to be upright and confident. The Office of Education will also actively support your dreams."
The Office of Education hopes that the "Seonui Scholarship" will continue in the future, contributing to the nurturing of local talent and the spread of a culture of warm sharing in the region.
