This campaign took place along the 'Five Senses Connection Trail' in the Manyeonsan area of Hwasun. Staff from the Jeollanamdo Environmental Health Center, the Mudeungsan National Park office, medical students from Chonnam National University, and visitors participated in the event.
Participants engaged in plogging (picking up litter while walking in nature) and took part in a variety of health and environmental experience programs, including blood pressure and blood sugar checks for visitors, a recycling knowledge quiz, and a mini environmental discussion.
Participants shared opinions on proper recycling methods and recognized the importance of practical, everyday environmental protection activities. The health check booth also provided an opportunity for individuals to assess their health status, allowing them to naturally understand the connection between the environment and personal health in a meaningful way.
Park Wonjoo, Director of the Jeollanamdo Environmental Health Center (Professor of Occupational and Environmental Medicine), stated, "This campaign is an experiential program that considers both the environment and health, and we hope it will serve as a catalyst for real change in the local community." He added, "We will continue to collaborate with various organizations to carry out sustainable environmental health activities."
Meanwhile, the Jeollanamdo Environmental Health Center is leading efforts to improve the quality of life for residents in the region by implementing a variety of initiatives to protect environmentally vulnerable groups in Jeollanamdo, including surveys on exposure to environmental hazards, environmental health education, and health management support, as well as by working closely with the local community.
