76.6% of Residents Near Proposed Jicheon Dam Site in Cheongyang and Buyeo Support Dam Construction
According to Realmeter survey, 1,167 out of 1,524 households support the project

It has been found that 76 out of every 100 residents living near the proposed Jicheon Climate Response Dam site in Cheongyang and Buyeo counties, Chungnam Province, are in favor of the dam's construction.
According to the province on June 18, a survey was conducted at the request of the Jicheon Dam Regional Council by Realmeter from May 30 to June 5. The survey targeted 4,506 households residing within a 5-kilometer radius of the proposed Jicheon Dam site.
Of the 1,524 households that responded, 76.6%, or 1,167 households, answered that they were in favor of the dam's construction.
In Cheongyang County, 866 households out of 2,806 responded, with 77.4% (670 households) in favor and 22.6% (196 households) opposed.
In Buyeo County, 658 households out of 1,700 responded, with 75.5% (497 households) in favor and 24.5% (161 households) opposed.
Reasons given for supporting the dam included opinions such as, "The Jicheon Dam should be pushed forward quickly for the nation's long-term development," "For the advancement of Buyeo," and "I hope it will solve water shortages caused by climate change."
Reasons cited for opposition included concerns about damage to agriculture and livestock due to fog, lack of places to live or settle, and emotional aversion to the dam itself.
The Jicheon Dam Regional Council plans to conduct a public opinion poll targeting all residents, including those in Cheongyang, after further discussions on the direction of the Jicheon Dam project.
