Secretary-General Guterres Highly Praises Korea's Contributions to International Peace and Security
President Lee Jaemyung, who is visiting Kananaskis, Canada to attend the Group of Seven (G7) summit, held an informal meeting with United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the morning of the 17th (local time).
According to the Office of the President, President Lee expressed his gratitude for Secretary-General Guterres' congratulations on his inauguration and stated, "In this era of complex crises, solidarity within the international community, centered around the United Nations, is crucial." He added, "Our government will provide the necessary support and play its role to ensure that the UN can contribute to international peace and prosperity."
In response, Secretary-General Guterres highly praised Korea's contributions in the areas of international peace and security, human rights, sustainable development, and climate change response. He also requested Korea's continued role in addressing the common challenges faced by the international community, based on multilateral cooperation.
