On June 17, Sejong City announced that it has established the "Sejong City Emergency Regional Economy Situation Room" to support the recovery of the local economy through close communication with central government ministries.
The Emergency Regional Economy Situation Room was set up to establish a close cooperation system in line with the launch of the Emergency Regional Economy Situation Room by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the same day. The situation room at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety operates a regional economy dashboard focusing on five key economic indicators: production, consumption, prices, employment, and construction. It also collects economic difficulties and suggestions from each local government and seeks solutions to these issues.
The city will operate the situation room under the leadership of Lee Yongil, Director of Planning and Coordination, with a system of five teams: the Local Finance Team, the Public Property Team, the Local Tax System Team, Regional Economy Team 1, and Regional Economy Team 2.
The situation room plans to intensively monitor local economic issues such as the prompt execution of the budget, management of local prices, local currency execution, and management of national supplementary budgets. It will also promote local livelihood measures by identifying and implementing its own policy projects.
Kim Hakgyun, Deputy Mayor for Administrative Affairs, stated, "Amid emergency situations such as the deterioration of domestic and international economic conditions, contraction in consumption, and stagnation of the local economy, we will actively cooperate with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to ensure that livelihood-related measures are implemented without disruption."
