Digital poetry is a new genre of digital literature that combines poetic sentences of up to five lines with photographs taken with a digital camera or smartphone, and is shared online.

This event was organized as part of a strategy to promote international cultural exchange and academic cooperation with digital poetry as a joint brand, and to foster Busan as a global hub for digital poetry.

Overseas universities that have consistently participated in digital poetry contests, such as North China University of Foreign Studies in China, Ho Chi Minh City National University in Vietnam, and National University of Indonesia, took part in the event. They experienced Korean culture and established a sustainable cooperation network.

At the opening ceremony held on June 13 at the Centum Campus Book Cafe Lounge, about 100 people attended, including more than 30 presenters from overseas universities and more than 50 students from the Department of Digital Literary Creation at Gyeongnam Information University. The event began with a welcoming address by Park Yangsu, Vice President of Gyeongnam Information University, followed by congratulatory remarks from Lee Junhyun, President of the Busan RISE Innovation Center, and Kim Jonghoe, President of the Korea Digital Poetry Association. Oh Minseok, Professor Emeritus at Dankook University, delivered a keynote lecture on "The Current Status and Prospects of International Exchange in Digital Poetry."

Afterward, domestic and international faculty members gave academic presentations on various topics, including "Digital Poetry and Digital Culture," "SNS and Everyday Literature," and "Smartphones and the Creation of Digital Poetry."

On June 15, participants went on a photo excursion in the Haeundae and Nampo-dong areas, taking photographs against the backdrop of Busan's iconic landmarks and creating digital poetry on-site as part of a hands-on experience.

The Department of Digital Literary Creation at Gyeongnam Information University operates evening and weekend classes at the Centum Campus, nurturing YouTubers, digital writers, and lyricists with planning and creative skills through courses in photography and video production, literary creation, and speech training.
