LIG Nex1 to Develop Ballistic Missile Operations Simulation Model System
LIG Nex1 will embark on the "Ballistic Missile Operations Simulation Model System Development Project." This initiative aims to develop modeling and simulation (M&S)-based anti-ballistic missile operational training to proactively respond to increasingly sophisticated ballistic missile threats.
On June 17, LIG Nex1 announced that it had signed a contract worth 33.4 billion KRW with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration for the "Ballistic Missile Operations Simulation Model System Development Project," which will continue until 2028.
This project will apply advanced M&S technology to create a virtual battlefield environment similar to actual combat, allowing for the mastery of operational capabilities. It is designed to enable systematic and repetitive interception training. Through this, the gap between actual battlefield conditions and training is expected to be minimized, and the company aims to respond proactively to rapidly changing future combat environments.
By establishing an independent training system to counter ballistic missile threats and providing realistic training, commanders’ decisiveness and combat command capabilities are expected to improve. This, in turn, is anticipated to enhance the overall technological competitiveness of the defense industry.
LIG Nex1 has accumulated experience and technological expertise by developing various M&S systems, including the medium-range and medium-altitude interceptor system "Cheongung II," the long-range and high-altitude interceptor long-range surface-to-air missile "L-SAM," as well as C4I analysis models and naval engagement-level analysis models.
