Jangseonggun Launches Special Summer Monitoring of Environmental Pollution
Jangseonggun, Jeonnam will conduct special monitoring of environmental pollution activities during the summer months of July and August.
On June 16, the county announced that it will strengthen on-site monitoring in order to prevent illegal discharge of pollutants in advance during periods of heavy rainfall, and to prevent secondary damage such as the spread of algal blooms and pollution of public water bodies.
The inspections will target 20 locations, including wastewater discharge businesses and campsite sewage treatment facilities that are at high risk of runoff when river water levels rise. The county will organize two enforcement teams to conduct both patrols and preventive inspections. Within this month, the county will also send out self-inspection notices to relevant businesses.
Kim Youngmi, Head of the Environmental Department, stated, "If any violations are identified, we will take strict actions such as administrative measures or prosecution," and urged, "We ask businesses to actively cooperate in preventing pollution accidents."
