Samsung Asset Management Launches 'KimchiDivo' and 'BoreumSchud' ETF Events
As the domestic ETF market enters the 200 trillion won era, various nicknames such as 'KimchiDivo' and 'BoreumSchud' have emerged for Samsung Asset Management's flagship monthly distribution ETFs, reflecting growing interest in monthly distribution products.
On June 13, Samsung Asset Management announced that it will hold the 'Do You Know KimchiDivo Event' and the 'Mid-Month Dividend Purchase Certification Event' for its popular monthly dividend ETFs, KODEX US Dividend Covered Call Active and KODEX US Dividend Dow Jones, respectively, until June 30.
The 'Do You Know KimchiDivo Event' was inspired by the fact that users in stock investment communities refer to the KODEX US Dividend Covered Call Active ETF by the nickname 'KimchiDivo.' This ETF is Samsung Asset Management's representative monthly dividend covered call ETF. It was launched in 2022 as a localized version of the popular US ETF 'DIVO' by Amplify. Among domestic investors, it is commonly called 'KimchiDivo' to signify a Korean-style DIVO, and is recognized as a high-yield, high-dividend ETF. The KODEX US Dividend Covered Call Active ETF, which boasts an annual dividend yield of over 9%, has attracted a net purchase of 29.3 billion won by individual investors over the past month.
The Do You Know KimchiDivo Event is a purchase certification event for the KimchiDivo ETF. It drew further attention from investors by offering fun event prizes related to actual kimchi. Investors can participate by purchasing at least 10 shares of the KODEX US Dividend Covered Call Active ETF and submitting a screenshot of their purchase history.
The 'Mid-Month Dividend Purchase Certification Event' is a purchase certification event for the KODEX US Dividend Dow Jones ETF, which is nicknamed 'BoreumSchud.' This product is a localized version of the well-known 'SCHD' ETF among overseas investors. Unlike existing monthly dividend ETFs that pay dividends at the end of the month, this ETF pays dividends on the 15th of every month. When combined with other monthly dividend ETFs, investors can establish a system to receive dividends twice a month.
The Mid-Month Dividend Purchase Certification Event targets both the KODEX US Dividend Dow Jones and KODEX US Dividend Covered Call Active, which pay dividends on the 15th of every month. Investors can participate by purchasing these two mid-month dividend ETFs and sharing a screenshot of their dividend deposit history.
Samsung Asset Management is currently running the 'Dividend Hotspot Campaign' by giving nicknames to KODEX dividend ETFs. As investor interest in monthly dividend ETFs has surged recently, the company is sharing effective investment strategies using monthly dividend ETFs through its website and YouTube channel.
KODEX 200 Target Weekly Covered Call and KODEX Financial High Dividend TOP10 Target Weekly Covered Call, which offer significant tax benefits, have been nicknamed 'Jeolsegain.' This is to highlight their tax advantages, as both premium income and capital gains are tax-exempt. The KODEX Korea Real Estate REITs, a monthly dividend ETF that recently achieved 100 consecutive trading days of net individual purchases, is being promoted under the nickname 'Hanburi.'
