View original imageThe Korea Forest Service conducts a joint evaluation in the forestry sector every year, targeting 17 metropolitan cities and provinces nationwide. The evaluation covers the implementation of major forestry projects across six indicators, including the cultivation of healthy and sustainable forest resources, the establishment rate of landslide prevention and response systems, the achievement of wildfire prevention performance, the performance rate of forest road facility construction, the achievement rate of forest pest and disease control, and efforts to promote wood utilization.
While both top and excellent institutions are recognized, among the metropolitan provinces, Gyeonggi Province, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, and Gyeongsangnam-do were selected as the top institutions.
This year, Gyeonggi Province made continuous efforts to achieve its evaluation goal for 'efforts to promote wood utilization.' These efforts included implementing wood-related policies, carrying out promotional activities to encourage wood use, and urging relevant organizations to prioritize the purchase of domestic wood. The province plans to continue promoting forestry policies aimed at strengthening its response to forest disasters, increasing the income of forestry workers, and improving the quality of life for residents.
