Lee Jeongeon, Professor of Breast Surgery and Director of the Breast Cancer Center at Samsung Seoul Hospital, has been inaugurated as the 12th Director of the Korean Breast Cancer Society. His term will last for two years, starting from May 2025.

View original imageProfessor Lee graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine in 1996, obtained his board certification in surgery in 2001, and has served as a professor at Samsung Seoul Hospital since 2006.
Kim Taehyun, Professor of Breast Surgery at Inje University Busan Paik Hospital, has been appointed as the new President of the society.
The Korean Breast Cancer Society was founded in 1996 as the Breast Cancer Research Group and evolved into its current form in 1999. The society has led advances in breast cancer research and treatment, and has spearheaded breast cancer awareness by organizing the 'Pink Ribbon Campaign' every October. The 'World Breast Cancer Congress,' which was first launched in 2007, has grown to the point where this year's academic conference attracted more than 5,000 participants from 64 countries.

Director Lee stated, "Going forward, I will continue to achieve outcomes that provide practical benefits to patients by collaborating with the eight research groups within the society, as well as with various related societies both domestically and internationally, and by transcending the boundaries of specialized fields. I will also work more proactively to establish the latest evidence and to develop careful and balanced clinical guidelines."
