FKI Promotes as a Sponsoring Organization
With about a month remaining before the deadline for the Korea-US mutual tariff negotiations, Ryu Jin, Chairman of the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI), attended a US congressional event and conducted outreach activities targeting key members of the US House of Representatives and Senate.
According to the FKI on June 12, Chairman Ryu attended the "US Congressional Charity Baseball Game" held the previous day (local time) at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., where he introduced the achievements of Korean companies' investments in the US and highlighted the competitiveness of promising Korea-US cooperation sectors such as shipbuilding and energy to major US lawmakers.
This event is an annual charity game with a long tradition in the US Congress, dating back to 1909. A total of 69 senators and representatives from 25 states participated directly as team managers and players for the Republican and Democratic teams. Among them were state legislators from Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Indiana, and Iowa?regions where Korean companies have made large-scale investments.
The FKI participated as a sponsor and conducted various promotional activities, including airing promotional videos on the scoreboard, distributing US investment flyers, and installing banners in the outfield seats. The FKI's promotional videos and materials highlighted that, since the first term of President Trump in 2016, Korean companies have invested over $160 billion (approximately 219 trillion won) and created about 830,000 local jobs.
Kim Bongman, Head of the International Division at the FKI, stated, "With the launch of the new administration, negotiations with the US, including those on mutual tariffs, are expected to resume in earnest. As an institution representing the Korean business community, we carried out this local promotional activity to foster a favorable atmosphere in the US." He added, "The FKI will actively leverage its long-established US network and will continue to pursue new initiatives to inform US opinion leaders and the general public that Korea is an important partner in both economic and security fields."
