Hanul Nuclear Power Plant Headquarters Holds Release Event for Fish and Shellfish Raised with Warm Water
Expectations for Increased Income of Local Fishermen
On June 10, Hanul Nuclear Power Plant Headquarters of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (headed by Lee Seyong) held a release event for fish and shellfish raised using warm water from the nuclear power plant at Seokho Port in Uljin County, together with the head of the Hanul Headquarters, the chairman of the Fishing Village Association Council, and representatives of local fishermen.

View original imageThey released 30,000 young flatfish into the waters off Seokho and Nagok, and attached 20,000 juvenile abalone to the rocks around the fishing village association.
To commemorate 'Ocean Day,' Hanul Nuclear Power Plant Headquarters has continued the annual release project for fish and shellfish raised using warm water since 1999. As of this year, a total of 2.7 million juvenile fish and shellfish have been released into the waters near the nuclear power plant.
The chairman of the Fishing Village Association Council said, "I sincerely thank Hanul Headquarters for their ongoing concern and support for fishery resources and the livelihoods of fishermen. I hope the juvenile fish and shellfish will grow well and bring abundant catches."
Lee Seyong, head of the headquarters, stated, "I am pleased that the continuous release of fish and shellfish by Hanul Headquarters has contributed to increasing fishermen's income and forming fishery resources. We will continue to work in step with the local community going forward."
