Gijang County, Busan to Launch Second Semester Citizen University and Language Institute Offering Diverse Lifelong Learning Opportunities
Gijang County (Governor Jung Jongbok) will begin operating the '2025 Second Semester Gijang County Citizen University and Gijang County Citizen Language Institute' programs starting June 23, 2025.
This round of courses is notable for expanding lifelong learning opportunities for residents and offering a variety of educational programs aimed at self-development and capacity building.
According to Gijang County, the second semester of the Gijang County Citizen University this year consists of general courses, humanities courses, and courses for the 5060 new middle-aged group, with a total of 34 classes being offered.
Various hobby and liberal arts, humanities, and certification courses are available, such as ▲Eco-friendly Home Cafe Class ▲Filing a Civil Lawsuit Alone ▲Walking Through Summer with Nobel Literature Prize Winners, as well as customized courses for the 5060 new middle-aged group, including ▲Beautiful Korean Traditional Minhwa ▲Docent Instructor (Certification Course).
The Gijang County Citizen Language Institute will offer 43 programs, including language courses at various levels in English, Japanese, and Chinese, as well as mobile video (telephone) courses. This year, a new ▲French Beginner Course has been introduced, along with demand-driven special courses such as ▲First Steps in Mom’s English ▲Business English Email ▲Subtle Differences in English Expressions ▲Communicating Without Misunderstanding, which are expected to receive a positive response from participants.
The second semester lifelong learning program will run for 10 weeks from June 23 to September 5. Any resident of Gijang County or anyone employed within Gijang County who is 20 years of age or older is eligible to apply. For the 5060 new middle-aged courses at the Citizen University, only those born on or before December 31, 1974 may apply.
Course registration will take place online over two days, June 9 and 10, through the Gijang County Lifelong Learning website.
Governor Jung Jongbok stated, "I hope that through the Citizen University and Citizen Language Institute, residents will experience the joy of learning and opportunities for growth," and added, "We will do our best to operate a variety of programs tailored to the lifelong learning needs of our residents."
