Gochang County in North Jeolla Province will host the '2025 Gochang Mudflat Festival' under the theme 'Enjoy the World-Recognized Mudflats in Gochang' from June 13 to 15 at Mandol Mudflat in Simwon-myeon.

View original imageAccording to the county on June 10, this festival will offer visitors the opportunity to fully experience the beauty of the pristine Gochang mudflats, which are listed as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. The event will feature a variety of programs and vibrant cultural activities.
The festival has secured parking for more than 400 vehicles to maximize convenience for visitors. A range of participatory programs will be available, including the 'Mudflat Guardian Health Walk,' 'Wind Park Healing Yoga,' and the 'Mudflat K-POP Dance Competition.'
In particular, the festival will offer 'Mudflat Experience Activities,' where participants can dig for clams and surf clams, as well as the 'Slippery Pungcheon Eel Bare-Handed Catch,' in which people can catch Gochang's signature Pungcheon eel with their bare hands. These activities are expected to provide special experiences for both children and adults.
In addition, there will be a seafood specialty food section featuring fresh local dishes unique to Gochang, such as shrimp tempura, seasoned cockles, and cockle bibimbap. The Gochang Mudflat Promotion Center will host exhibitions to raise awareness about the ecology of the mudflats and the importance of environmental conservation.
The '2025 Gochang Mudflat Festival,' which blends the wonders of the mudflats with local culture, is expected to become a summer event that families, friends, and couples alike can enjoy together.
Kim Chung, Chairperson of the Gochang Mudflat Festival Organizing Committee, stated, "We will do our utmost to prepare for the festival so that many people can fully enjoy the pristine coastline and eco-friendly food at the Mandol Mudflat Festival grounds, and take home joyful experiences and exciting memories."
