"The Moment the Bell Rings" Wins Grand Prize in Competition Section at Seoul Environmental Film Festival
"We Must Recognize the Value of Mount Gariwang Damaged by the Olympics"
The Korea Green Foundation announced on June 9 that it has selected the documentary "The Moment the Bell Rings" as the Grand Prize winner in the Korean Competition section at the 22nd Seoul International Environmental Film Festival.

View original imageThis film revisits the memories of Mount Gariwang, which was damaged during the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, and captures scenes from Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo in Italy, where the Olympics will be held next year. It was co-directed by Kim Jooyoung and Soheili Komeil.
Director Kim stated, "I wanted to remind people of the importance of Mount Gariwang, which is gradually being forgotten after the Olympics," and added, "I sincerely believe that if more people pay attention, this mountain can one day be restored."
The Excellence Award in the Korean Competition section went to "Kkotpulso" by director Lim Jungwan. The film depicts the struggles of young people trying to save abandoned cattle. It also received the Audience Jury Award, achieving two awards in total.
In the International Competition section, "Finding Peace" by directors Nicole Gomley and Debra Aroko won the Grand Prize. This documentary follows the journey of tragedy and recovery caused by human-centered ways of life, as seen through the eyes of a boy who lost his family due to climate change and rampant development.

The Jury Special Prize was awarded to "Burning" by directors Nova Ami and Velcrow Ripper, while the Audience Award went to "Where We Used to Sleep" by director Mathias Boehrle.
