Remembering the Sacrifice of Patriotic Heroes... Gyeongsan Holds 70th Memorial Day Ceremony

View original imageAbout 1,000 people attended the ceremony, including Mayor Cho Hyunil of Gyeongsan, heads of veterans' organizations and other institutions, national merit recipients, and bereaved families. With solemn and reverent hearts, they honored the noble spirit of the patriotic martyrs and fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the nation and the people.
The ceremony began at exactly 10 a.m. with a moment of silent tribute in unison with sirens sounded nationwide, followed by a rifle salute, floral tribute and incense offering, memorial address, recitation of a memorial poem, and the singing of the Memorial Day song.
In his memorial address, Mayor Cho Hyunil said, "On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Liberation and the 70th Memorial Day, I deeply thank the patriotic martyrs and fallen heroes who defended the freedom and peace of the Republic of Korea." He added, "We will focus our efforts on veterans' affairs so that national merit recipients and their families can be respected and live comfortably in the local community."
