Jinju City: "We Will Never Forget the Noble Sacrifice"
The 70th Memorial Day Ceremony Held
Attendance of Over 900 People Including Veterans' Organizations and Citizens
Jinju City in South Gyeongsang Province held 'The 70th Memorial Day Ceremony' at the Chunghon Tower located at the entrance of Jinyangho Park.
The ceremony, which took place on June 6, began with a moment of silence for the patriotic martyrs and fallen heroes in line with the Memorial Day siren. It proceeded with the national ceremony, laying of flowers and incense offering, a memorial address, recitation of a memorial poem, and the singing of the Memorial Song.
Approximately 900 people attended the event, including Jinju Mayor Cho Kyu-il, provincial and city council members, national merit recipients and their bereaved families, heads of organizations, and ordinary citizens, all participating in a solemn atmosphere.
Mayor Cho Kyu-il stated, "The freedom and peace we enjoy today have been achieved through the noble sacrifices of our patriotic martyrs and fallen heroes. We will deeply honor the noble sacrifices and patriotic spirit of those who dedicated themselves to the nation and its people, and we will do our utmost to enhance the honor and pride of the merit families so that they may live with dignity."
Meanwhile, Jinju City is implementing various support policies to honor and assist national merit recipients and their families who have sacrificed or contributed to the country, including the payment of honor allowances for veterans and merit recipients, as well as consolation money during holidays and Patriots and Veterans Month.
