Mapo District Hosts 'Great Festival of the Korean Peninsula' for Peaceful Unification at Red Road
On June 7, Mapo District in Seoul held the 'Great Festival of the Korean Peninsula' at Red Road R5 and R6 in collaboration with the Mapo District Council of the National Unification Advisory Council. Now in its second year, the festival was organized to raise awareness of the importance and necessity of peaceful unification and to foster social consensus on the issue.

View original imageBeginning at noon, the festival featured a variety of events that captivated both residents and visitors to Red Road, including the 'Joint Art Project Dareujiman Dahamkke,' where participants drew the Korean Peninsula together in hopes of peaceful unification; 'Experiencing the Value of Peace through Wartime Food'; and 'Making Fans Wishing for Unification.'
'The Taegeukgi We Make,' an event where people of all ages wrote messages of hope for unification and peace directly on a giant Taegeukgi flag, proved especially popular.

The main event began at 4 p.m. at Red Road R6 with an opening ceremony. This was followed by a performance from the Pyongyang Art Troupe and concerts by singers Kim Soohee and Noh Sayoun, which inspired hope for harmony and exchange between North and South Korea.
