The Workplace Sports Club Establishment and Operation Support Project provides support for the establishment of new teams in sports disciplines that do not yet have workplace clubs, as well as operational funding for teams in well-managed disciplines, with the goal of revitalizing elite sports through the recruitment of outstanding athletes.
In this round of selections, support for new team establishment was awarded to the athletics team at Mokpo National University and the taekwondo team at Dongshin University. Each team will receive 250 million KRW and 139 million KRW, respectively, distributed over three years.
For operational support, six teams from Jeonnam Provincial Office were selected, along with the athletics and hockey teams from Mokpo City, the yachting, judo, and athletics teams from Yeosu City, the soft tennis, archery, and judo teams from Suncheon City, and the athletics and bowling teams from Gwangyang City. Among public institutions, Korea Electric Power Corporation's rugby and athletics teams were also selected. In total, 18 teams from six organizations secured 597 million KRW in funding.
The selected organizations plan to use the funds for the purchase of training equipment to improve athletes' skills and to cover competition participation expenses.
