View original imageOn June 4, Jeong Gi Myung, Mayor of Yeosu, visited the Yeosu Maritime Police Station and held a meeting with Chief Kim Ki Yong to promote the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo and to discuss cooperation in the operation of the expo venue.
On that day, Mayor Jeong stated, "Given that the Islands Expo will mainly take place across Yeosu's 365 islands, cooperation with the Maritime Police is essential," and requested special attention and collaboration to ensure the safe and successful operation of the expo.
He also met with employees of the Maritime Police Station who are members of large families, saying, "I recently learned from media reports that there are many large families among the Yeosu Maritime Police," and added, "With low birth rates emerging as a social issue, I am very grateful that you are taking the lead in spreading a healthy culture of raising multiple children."
He went on to say, "Yeosu City will also do its utmost to support parents with many children by preparing various support measures so that they can raise their children well."
Meanwhile, the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo will be held from September 5 to November 4 next year in the Dolsan Jinmo District, Geomundo, Gaedo, and the Yeosu World Expo venue. Yeosu City plans to establish an organic cooperation system with relevant organizations to ensure the successful operation of the event.
